Wrapping up...

So we've sent the teams home...the Lathams are moving into a hotel today as the rest of their things get packed up to head to Natal Brasil.  Nanette and I are doing finishing touches on things here in Brasil...all is lined up for us to come home!

We've had an awesome time here....it would be impossible for me to put into words all that has been accomplished, what will be reaped in the future from our work.

Tonight Nanette and I are staying with a Brasilian family with some of our friends, tomorrow will be a day of enjoying being with Brasilians before we have to say goodbye....Sunday church...and then Monday I'm off:).

Thanks for reading, I'll be home soon with soooo many pictures:)!

Love Mollie

Filling in the blanks

Well so much has happened in these past days, It's going to be hard to remember it all and blog on it.

We had a youth team from Alabama here to work with us, and I have neverbeen so impressed with a youth team...they were so mature and ready to work, and strong evangelists too.  I haven't worked with youth or been in youth groups really since I was around 16 or so, and it took some adjusting, but they were great.

The best story of the week is about a girl named Karla.  She is dating the leader of Le Parkour, and it was obvious in the beginning of my trip that she was bringing him down...so I really wanted to see them break up.  Well, after spending more time with her, I really started to love her, her spirit changed a lot, and there was one day we had lunch together with a bunch of Brasilians and those Brasilians spent the entire lunch witnessing to her, so a few days ago after a Le Parkour practice, we did a devotional time with some testimonies and told everyone that if they wanted to recieve Christ they could meet us a certain tree...so I knew ( I felt) that something was going on, I knew someone was going to make a move.  I just didn't know if I should run to the tree and be ready or stay back and go with someone...so I stayed back.  Karla grabbed my hand and we were off to the tree to meet Thomas and another missionary.  She said, " I want to do this, not because of my boyfriend, but because I know I need to." I have goosebumps right now about this...anyways, we talk a little with her and Thomas asks me to lead her to Christ...so the 4 of us got on our knees...and with many tears in my eyes we prayed.  As soon as it was done and I was trying to do follow up with her, she looks at Teresa and says...I want to be baptized, right now.  It was awesome.  So we all ran for the river!  There were 4 total that got baptized that day.  Thomas let me baptize Karla with him (I know that many people may not agree with this, that it should only be a man that has the right to baptized...which is why I did it WITH Thomas so that people would accept her baptisim, but this was the most special moment of my life...and now I know that when I get to heaven Karla will be there with me...).

We have officially built a mini gym!  It is amazing, somewhat small, but amazing, and it's ready to use!  I have lots of pictures:)...we worked a LOT on it.  We spent 4 or so days witnessing in different neighborhoods in the afternoon with an evangecube...which are pretty awesome.  AND Guereirros de Deus (GD) games went really well, a little small, but it was the first one ever so we were proud.  It got a lot of people to a church that would NEVER usually come.  Thomas receieved his brown belt on Sunday night, and Vasco (a key worker at our church) recieved his black belt...so we are very proud.

We have had a media team here from the IMB all week as well, taping the Latham's ministry, and how they are leaving the ministry in the hands of Vasco as they move to Natal.  These 3 guys were amazing, and really really talented also!  One is a missionary that worked on the Xtreme team for 2 years in the jungles of Peru roughing it and going village to village (wow the stories are crazy), the other two did the taping and picture taking.  They got an interview from me...fun fun...and it will be used for Lottie Moon Christmas offering 2008...

The Lathams are beginning to move out of their house.  Today we are going to have a fun day on the Amazon wakeboarding, and tomorrow the real work begins for them as they move out.

It's going to be sad to leave next week...it went by really fast, and who knows if I'll ever see these people again...after I've known them for a year now....

Playing catch up...

Well for the past few days I've been with an American team from Alabama...basciallybeing their mom...which is fun of course...

We've been building a small gym in a home, and after that we eat lunch, go in town evangelizing to whom ever will listen!  We have an awesome camera team here taping our journey and it will be used for the Lottie Moon Offering this christmas...so look for me on there!  My portuguese has been growing a lot....i'm forced to use it a lot and i've learned a lot...

Tonight we are going huntin for gators! haha

Saturday I will compete in my first jiu jitsu tournament.  Last night I fought a Brasilian girl in my weight class and I literally hurt her... :(....so yea, I think it'll be fun! haha

So much to say, so little time to say it!

I have 5 min to tell about my weekend!! AH!

Well yesterday was the most amazing birthday party i've ever gone to!  It was the 15th bday party for a beautiful girl, and it was amazing...cost over $5,000...more than my wedding ever will! Haha...it was so much fun...elegant...and also so much fun!!!  Nanette and I started the dancing, we openned the dance floor!  It was amazing...I have pictures...grr, too much to say!

The team finally came in at 5 am this morning. They landed at 12 am but there was fog so bad that they had to land at a military base across town...3 hours later they drove to Manaus, Thank God they had all their bags!

We spent today sleeping, orienting them, and getting ready...

now off to Shalaom church...I ran out of time:)

Talk to you all later...it'll be a few days because i'm not lving at home but at a camp for 10 days!

See ya

Late to bed, early to rise...makes the missionary very tired...

Today we got up bright and early to meet with a bunch of people at Thomas'.  We left to go see where our team will be staying, and what we have to work with.  Then I took 2 Brasilians and Nanette shopping for food, which I love to do, but it is really hard on a tight budget, in a foreign country...so 4 carts later....and R$550 later...we have food for 9 people for 10 days...

We managed to put all the food, and 5 people in a tiny taxi to take it back to the seminary where our team will be staying.

Then it was off to the church!  Nanette has taught me my first cheer dance...and as weird as that is to me....I'm using it for ministry at church!  Brasilian culture is this:  LATE, and just because they say yes does not mean that they will follow through!  So we did a lot of sitting, waiting, trying new gymnastic moves, and teaching the natives how to salsa.  Then the night started, and it was suppose to start at 7 pm...well at 7:45, there was still not anything going....and finally around 8 people started showing up!  Goodness....these peopel can be crazy!

Nanette and I rode our first taxi alone together....and we survived!  I think we could make it after all in a foregin country...she's learning the language fast!

Now we're hanging out with the Lathams!

Tomorrow...I am fighting in my first Jiu Jitsu tournament ever...so I hope that i can get at least 3rd place!!!!!

More on that later!
